What changed with Claude's watermark?
Anthropic says supported Claude models can weave an imperceptible, machine-readable watermark into generated text. For supported files, it can also add signed provenance metadata. The rollout begins with qualifying models launched in the EU on or after 2 August 2026 and is intended to apply wherever those models are offered.
This is not a visible label and it is not the same as an AI detector guessing from style. Anthropic also stresses two limits: a detected mark does not conclusively prove who authored the underlying material, and no detected mark does not prove that AI was absent. Can editing remove a Claude watermark?
Anthropic says a mark may stop being detectable when text is heavily edited, paraphrased, translated or mixed with other writing. That does not make every rewriter a “Claude watermark remover,” and it does not create a reliable guarantee for any individual passage.

Does Claude add a watermark to text?
Anthropic says supported Claude models can weave an imperceptible, machine-readable mark into generated text. Support depends on the model and rollout, so not every Claude output will necessarily carry a detectable mark.
Can DraftMine remove the Claude watermark?
